“Two can dig a lot quicker than one.”
It would be difficult to argue against the premise that The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly finale is the finest gun scene in movie history. You’ve got three of the greatest gun-slingers in movie history squaring off in a cemetery to see who gets to go home with the money. We’ve got the Good/Blondie/The Man with No Name (Clint Eastwood), the Ugly/Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez (Eli Wallach), and Angel Eyes/the Bad (Lee Van Cleef), all who have been on a long, tired, violent adventure, out-smarting one another yet all ending up at this one climatic event to see who wins.
Everything about this movie, and in particular, this scene, just oozes excellence. Here’s the scene:
