Just found an op-ed from the Aurora Sentinel, which can be found here.
I’ve always been of the opinion that if you plan to be an anti-gunner, you can at least get basic facts correct. That, and not be hypocritical. For instance, what’s wrong with this passage:
But after watching the local gun-control argument for the past half a century, I’ve come to the conclusion that rational, intelligent people don’t want to live in a community where everybody is armed to teeth and carries extra clips in their fanny packs.
And, what’s wrong with this passage?
An ambush by Republican state lawmakers this week was thwarted 3-2 in a state Senate committee that had three smarter people than the two who thought it’s a perfectly marvelous idea to wonder who inside a packed, dark cinema has a loaded, 9 mm Glock G17 with the safety off tucked in their hoodie pocket or their kid’s diaper bag.
While repeatedly boasting about how brilliant he is, as well as others who oppose a constitutional carry bill, he barely addresses any of the arguments made in favor of the bill, and instead chooses to call everyone he disagrees with names, such as “gun nuts,” “whack jobs,” and “nitwits,” who are “irrational,” “unintelligent,” “dumber,” “stupid,” and “obtuse.”
It’s obvious he has trying to be as inflammatory as he can to make his point – but it seems to me that almost each and every word that he used to describe everyone in favor of the gun bill could be used on him…anti-gun nut, whack job, nitwit, irrational, unintelligent, dumber, stupid, and obtuse.
This guy should have tried to at least put together a rational, sensible anti-gun anti-bill argument so his names for his opposition didn’t clearly apply to him. And because his only argument was to insult the opposition, there really isn’t much else to say about this guy’s brilliant piece.
