The stereotype of only old white men (or disturbed young white men) being interested in legal gun ownership is an incredibly tired, outdated and in a sense rather racist and sexist (to women and minorities) stereotype. I go to the range or my local gun shop and I see a diverse spectrum of Americans all embracing their 2nd amendment right. I’m glad to see more women choosing to be armed (hopefully it’ll give predators a second thought of assaulting them), and glad to see minorities doing so as well. Have to remember so much legislation in the past was directly to disarm emancipated slaves, newly arrived immigrants or people separate from those in power.

They -want- to cast it as a “Only these outdated, past generation ignorant white males are interested in guns”. And hopefully 2014 is going to remind them all you don’t fuck with the 2nd amendment – unless you’re in a gerrymandered to hell supermajority “treat legislation like it’s rubber stamping in Baathist Iraq” state.

Totally agree (except for your use of minorities, which in todays politically correct arena of the U.S. IS the white male).
