Over the last five months, you’ve become acquainted with my site, the gun wire. The gun wire. went live on August 22, 2011, and it’s going strong. There are new readers every day, and people are sticking around longer and longer. It’s great. I enjoy knowing that this site is of interest to a lot of people out there.
Now that you have had an opportunity to get to know my site, it’s time to get to know me a little bit. My name is Todd, and I’m a serious gun enthusiast and news junkie. I am also a 40-something husband and a father of two. I tend to be very optimistic, and enjoy life. I smoke cigars, routinely, and a night or two a week, I like to sip scotch. In some capacity or another, I work every day, all day long. And that’s how I like it.
Why did I start the gun wire.? Well, I have been sifting through the news religiously for the last couple of years, reading gun story after gun story. I like to know what is going on, particularly with gun laws and the reaction of the public to gun laws. On a whim, I decided to put together the gun wire., based on other obvious inspirations out there in the journalistic world. And it has been a hit. Growth in readership has been substantial. Other gun bloggers and writers have told me they enjoy the site – some are here daily. Some are here all day long.
When I started this, I never wanted the gun wire. to be time consuming. But it is. Keeping up with the last 24 hours in gun news is, most days, a very difficult thing to do. There is so much information out there. Although, on rare occasion it is a struggle finding anything interesting at all…
Regarding this new blog area…well, to be quite honest with you, this blog is a total afterthought. I have no real plan to move forward with the blog portion of the gun wire. I have no marketing strategy, no plan of action. I want to have fun, and to be quite honest, I just like trying things to see where it can go.
Initially, I see the blog area as somewhere where I will focus on the same gun stories you have grown accustomed to seeing hourly on my home page. Select stories on everything guns and gun-related. While I like the home page format of the gun wire. – I actually like it a lot – I have always wanted a way where the reader could react or sound off to stories posted on the home page. Or I could react or sound off. Only there is no way to do that on the home page without junking it up. And I don’t want to junk it up. I like it how it is. This is going to be the place to comment.
I’m hoping that some of my loyal readers – and there are a lot of you – want to be able to comment on selected stories of interest from the home page. And for my new readers – well, I’m hoping you like my site and continue to visit, and choose to interact.
Oh, and while we’re at it, the gun wire. is also adding an archive page. We apologize in advance for links that no longer work – links from many of these news sources will lead nowhere as the source has altered the source website in some fashion or another.
Anyway, I’ve had enough of the rambling introduction. I’d rather hear from you. Let’s just start the fun with the famous last words of Jackie Gleason, which are inscribed on his tombstone…”And away we go…”
